Driftwood Cottage

Driftwood Cottage has undergone a complete renovation in 2020 and is now a beautiful cottage with outstanding coastal and sea views offering extremely comfortable and good quality accommodation in the picturesque hilltop village of Mortehoe. Enjoying a southerly aspect, the cottage is at the far end of a terrace and has an amazing patio area that overlooks the sea. Direct access to the South West Coastal Path is opposite the cottage, so this is the perfect location for walkers.

You can enjoy a cosy atmosphere in the beautifully decorated sitting room which has wonderful views and a newly installed wood burner on the slate hearth. There is a well-fitted kitchen with grey modern units and a pretty dining room to the rear with patio doors to a small rear courtyard, with bistro table and BBQ. Upstairs you will find two tastefully decorated bedrooms. The master bedroom has a King size bed and brand new en-suite shower and the second bedroom has a set of twin beds. Both bedrooms have flat-screen smart TVs. The family bathroom has a modern bath with a separate electric shower cubicle.

Mortehoe, with its pubs, post office and village store, is surrounded by National Trust land with wonderful walks on the coastal path. Woolacombe is a one-mile distance with far-reaching views. Once discovered this lovely cottage is bound to be a firm favourite any time of year.

Lovely house, exceptionally clean and well equipped. Set close to the top of quite a steep hill, two minutes walk from hub of the village where there are pubs, tearoom, bistro and very good takeaways. The coast path is literally across the road with spectacular views over the bay. Many walks around so doggy heaven. Excellent holiday base.

Driftwood is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location with everything accessible from your door-step including scenic walks, local beaches, cliff-top paths and hills, local pubs and restaurants. Private parking is at the front of the house with a dog friendly front garden. The back garden is a small courtyard. This is the best cottage we have stayed in.

We had a fabulous week at Driftwood Cottage. From the moment we arrived we felt very relaxed and at home. The welcome pack for us and one for the dog was lovely. Everything was very clean, beds extremely comfortable, and really nice decor. The cottage is in a perfect location, with access to the coastal path directly opposite and the views of the sea are spectacular. We would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

We have had 3 exceptional stays at this cottage and just love it! All the details and characteristics are beautiful, showers powerful and beds comfy! We love the terrace for a little sundowner g&t, and the fire for those more blustery evenings.
It is close enough to beaches and coves for an early morning dip before breakfast, while also being a bit away from the busier areas of Woolacombe that can be particularly popular in the height of summer! The area has some of our favourite beaches and walks too, accessible from the front door on foot if you don’t mind the hike back up the hill at the end. Otherwise just a short drive away!
We can’t wait to be back at the end of October for our first autumnal stay, having done summer, spring and winter already!

A gem of a cottage! Very well equipped, well maintained, much bigger than I thought with the most wonderful views from the front windows. The bed was also incredibly comfy too! The location is idyllic but with easy access to surrounding towns. We had the most wonderful stay and the welcome hampers were a lovely touch.

Really nicely presented with lovely decor, plus all the facilities, accessories and bits that you may need for your stay. Beds really comfy. Everything super clean and spotless on our arrival. A welcome hamper was waiting for us when we arrived. Couldn’t fault it at all. Just so sad to leave!!

Had a fantastic holiday at Driftwood Cottage. The cottage itself is lovely, it’s very clean and the kitchen is really well equipped. The location is just beautiful with plenty of breathtaking walks which start as soon as you leave the cottage. The village has a couple of shops, two pubs (though only one was open when we visited) and a few takeaway food options – possibly the best fish and chips we’ve ever had.  We would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful cottage, it’s a real gem!

We have just had a wonderful week at Driftwood Cottage which is beautifully finished with an amazing view of the sea. We are regular visitors to the area and the cottage is perfectly situated for getting to the beaches and walking the coastal paths. Everything you could need is catered for here.
